Colorlight searchlights are characterized user-friendliness (for example, the unlimited rotation in both the horizontal and vertical direction) combined with some unique features that contribute to greater safety at sea. JRC has introduced a new, compact radar without type approval for small commercial vessels and yachts: the JMA 1030. This professional radar helps you get home safely. This is also a cost-effective solution when only the radar needs replacing but the plotter, navtex and wind meter still perform perfectly well.
JRC’s Multi Information Display NWZ-4610 can be used as GPS, compass, meteo and depth repeater as well as a rudder position indicator. An ideal application for the captain’s cabin or crew’s quarters, for instance: the data from the connected instruments are available at a glance. For application without IMO approval, the screen can also be used as a standalone unit. All in a compact format measuring just 142 x 142 mm.
LEO is the name of the new application made by manufacturer CLS that enables fishing vessels to send their position and catch data to the Fisheries Control Centre (VCC) via a single satellite terminal. Which means you don’t have to buy an extra terminal. Alphatron Marine also offers a subscription to LEO at a very affordable fixed rate.

JRC and Alphatron Marine are pleased to announce the capability to offer the full range of ECDIS training, both generic and type specific. Required for full certification for captains and officers onboard a ship, these courses totally complement a fully implemented ECDIS system.
Our activities which started in 2013, to drive operations quality forward is now turning into succes. Since the beginning of 2014, the Engineering, Logistics, Procurement and Production departments of Alphatron Marine have been working with an integrated planning schedule that is monitored by the Logistics department. For shipyards this means shorter lead times for production and delivery of bridge consoles and equipment for newbuilding or retrofit projects.
At the end of year 2012 Alphatron Marine introduced its own PA and alarm system, the AlphaAnnounce Digital, in response to specific requests from customers. Because we impose high standards for our equipment and because our customers would like this quality to be confirmed, we have had the system inspected, and at the end of May 2014 we received DNV type approval for the complete digital system together with its many configuration options.

In 2006 Acta Marine and Alphatron Marine pioneered the use of Dynamic Positioning technology on the shallow water work vessel Sara Maatje II (now Coastal Conquest). Since then there have been another four multi cats, each fitted with the excellent DP systems made by Navis. The last of these, the shallow draft support vessel Coastal Chariot, was delivered in February 2014 in class BV (DP-1), like her sister ship Coastal Challenger. DP gives these vessels much greater operational readiness.

High costs and low bandwidth mean that crews often have limited access to satellite communication. Alphatron Marine offers an excellent alternative, providing fast, reliable internet for the crews of vessels sailing in areas covered by UMTS, such as coastal waters, harbours or inland waterways. Our integrated solution using bonded UMTS and the WiFi system, manufactured by the US company Ruckus, gives you extremely fast internet and WiFi coverage, in maritime terms, over pretty much the entire vessel.
As of 1 July 2014 the new IMO performance standard for the Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) takes effect. Shipowners are well prepared for this with the fourth generation VDR of JRC (Japan Radio Company), the JCY-1900, which is available in the spring. This reliable VDR complies with all the requirements and also offers a range of user-support functions such as real-time information, remote maintenance support of navigation and communication equipment as well as simple data retrieval via a handy USB port found on the display.

From April 2014 customers in the Asia Pacific region can expect more intensive support for new building projects and service-related issues as well as get to know the Alphatron product range better. In the context of international expansion, Alphatron Marine is investing in commercial and technical product training to dealers in this region and to the commercial staff of our partner there, JRC (Japan Radio Company).
Writing for Maritime by Holland, Andrew Rudgley states that ‘the Dutch company Alphatron Marine is leading in sorting out interfaces’. The most recent example of this is our AlphaPremiumBridge introduced in October last year whereby Alphatron Marine incorporated all the navigation, control and communication systems of various suppliers in an integrated bridge system that can be operated via a user-friendly interface. With some reluctance Stena Line navigation officer Richard Forson took part in the Alphatron Marine ECDIS training at the beginning of October 2013. His experience of similar training a few years ago left a lot to be desired: tedious and dull. However, within a couple of minutes of a warm welcome at Alphatron’s headquarters in Rotterdam, he soon became convinced that he was in the right place this time around.
Following the considerable market demand for the non-academic ECDIS training (IMO model course 1.27) by Alphatron Marine, we have expanded the size of the group from 4 to 8 participants for each course from 1 January 2014. This practical training takes place at least fortnightly in a professional environment with other experienced navigation officers.
Last November Alphatron Marine equipped four passenger ships with complete navigation and communication systems in just two weeks. Bert Teunissen of the FleetPro shipping company supervised the building of two Avalon ships: ‘As customer we need few words. Alphatron knows how to translate what we want and makes sure that our wishes are fulfilled without the need for us to worry.’
The Warranty department of Alphatron Marine guarantees the fast, correct processing of warranty claims. To reassure customers that we are on top of things, we inform our customers in the meantime about the progress. Once a warranty claim is processed, customers receive a service report – signed for agreement - containing a detailed explanation to the customer.
