Service Engineer
What does your day look like as a Service Engineer Maritime?
As a Service Engineer, you will board ships. These can be inland, maritime, or offshore vessels. The captain or shipping company has reported a malfunction in his navigation or communication equipment to us and that is where you come in. You drive to the customer in your company car and talk through his report with him. Then you go to work to find and solve the malfunction. You like this challenge because you are the one who can handle the fault report. With your creativity, you ensure that the problem is solved quickly. Of course, you will first be properly trained. When you have finished your job, you discuss what you have done with your customer. Is your customer satisfied? Then you are happy too!
Your job
- Perform maintenance on navigation/communication equipment.
- Fix malfunctions.
- Commissioning of equipment on board.
In the morning, your schedule for the day may be empty. Then you get to work in the workshop. But it could just happen that your schedule fills up with challenging jobs. On a quiet day, you can go home a little early. It also happens that at 5 p.m. you haven't finished yet, in which case you are flexible enough to finish the job. Because we serve our customers worldwide, you may sometimes work abroad for short periods when our customers' ships are there, from Africa to Spitsbergen, if you wish.
During your induction period, you will first work with an experienced colleague and go to ships. Once you get comfortable with your expertise, you will also be deployed in the duty week. On average, you will be scheduled for this 1 week every 6 weeks. Naturally, you will receive compensation for this.
What characterises you?
Perhaps it's obvious, but an interest in shipping comes in handy here! As does your attention to quality, proactivity, and solution thinking. Here's what else we think you could use to make this position a success:
- A completed TSO3 or TSO2 degree in electrical engineering or equivalent through experience
- VCA diploma (or willing to obtain one);
- enterprising;
- customer-oriented;
- clear communication in Dutch and English;
- flexible and willing to travel and work outside office hours;
- stress-resistant;
- living in the Zwijndrecht/Antwerp area;
- driving license B;
- you mainly work in Belgium.
Our offer
- Full-time job and working conditions commensurate with your responsibilities.
- An independent position where your initiative is appreciated.
- We will train you as a professional so that you can manage well on board.
- A company car that you can also use privately.
- A minimum of 25 holidays (for full-time employment).
- Extra leave days if you do not fall ill.
- Overtime pay and the possibility of compensatory time off.
- Compensation for duty service.
