Aftersales Engineer
What does your day look like?
As Aftersales Engineer you are the human touch between our customers and Alphatron Marine. You visit new ships on delivery, check customer satisfaction and solve technical problems if necessary. You train customers in the use and maintenance of Alphatron systems. In addition, you answer technical questions from customers through our help desk. You are part of the Customer Support department and work closely with other departments such as Service, Project Engineering, Training, Logistics and R&D. You are in regular contact with our subsidiaries, dealers and customers worldwide. The team consists of a Manager, an Aftersales Engineer, 3 Technical Support Engineers, 3 Warranty Controllers and a Customer Support Engineer. Due to the advancement of a colleague, we are looking for a second Aftersales Engineer.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Attending sea trials to train crews.
- You will be point of contact on board for escalations.
- Repairing navigation and communication systems (warranty items) at shipyards or home ports, worldwide.
- Perform quality inspections and follow up on areas for improvement.
- Giving training to customers, colleagues and dealers.
- Supporting the technical helpdesk.
- Handling technical warranty claims.
- Supervise and train young engineers in the field.
During your onboarding period, you will first work with an experienced colleague and go to ships. Once you get comfortable with your expertise, you will go out independently. You like to travel. Sometimes you work nearby, but you also travel all over the world. Sometimes you are away from home for 3 days or so and other times for 3 weeks. When you are not traveling, you work from our office in Rotterdam. Over time you will learn more and more and the jobs you take on will become more complex. Usually you will work on large ships or yachts.
Who are you?
You have knowledge of navigation and communication systems on board of a ship. You have attention to quality, are customer-oriented, pro activity and think in solutions. You are technically strong.
For this position we ask of you:
- A completed MBO or HBO education in the field of electrical engineering.
- Thorough knowledge of products such as Integrated Bridge Systems, ECDIS and Dynamic Positioning.
- Clear communication in English at a professional level (Dutch is a plus)
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, See Electrical and ERP systems is a plus.
- Willingness to work globally in multicultural environments.
- Flexible and willing to travel and work outside office hours
