New IMO requirements for reporting loss of containers at sea
New IMO requirements for reporting loss of containers at sea. The amendments will come into force on 1 January, 2026 and require captains to report both the loss and sighting of containers at sea and to communicate with nearby ships, coastal states and flag administrations.

VHF regulations postponed until 2028
We would like to provide you with an important update regarding the new VHF regulations that were originally scheduled to come into effect on January 1, 2024. These regulations have now undergone a significant alteration, extending the implementation timeline by an additional four years. This means that the changes stipulated in the regulations will not be enforced until January 1, 2028.

New VHF regulations
Please be notified on the upcoming VHF Regulation. Based on the new regulation, the first radio survey which will take place after 1st of January 2024, all VHFs have to comply with the appendix 18 of the Radio Regulations, which require 4digit channels to be available on the fixed VHFs onboard.

JRC | Alphatron Marine announces the appointment of their new CEO, Jun Nakazawa, who will start effective from the 1st of January 2023. Jun Nakazawa has been the Managing Director of Alphatron Marine USA for the last 2 years and has also been a board member of Alphatron Marine Beheer since 2014. He started his career at the JRC headquarters in 1990 and was stationed 3 times overseas; Rio de Janeiro (1996 - 2001), Amsterdam (2006 - 2012) and Houston (2020 - 2022).

Replacement action: defective AlphaRiverpilot MF hall sensors
Alphatron Marine and its supplier EBF would like to warn you about a possible defect in the hall sensor (potentiometer) in the tiller of the AlphaRiverPilot MF. As a result, you may encounter a fixed tiller. Although the chance of getting stuck is extremely small, we still want to make an adjustment as a precaution.

As of October 1, 2022, Jelmer Domela Nieuwenhuis is the new director of Alphatron Marine Netherlands. Many relations already know him from previous positions, which he has fulfilled in the past two years at JRC | Alphatron Marine. For those who don't know Jelmer Domela Nieuwenhuis yet, we would like to introduce him here.
