The Gyrocompass has become an essential instrument in almost all merchant- or naval vessels for its ability to detect the direction of true north and not the magnetic north. The gyrocompass is vital during operation; therefore, Alphatron Marine provides a 24/7 worldwide service of technical support from well-experienced technicians. We even offer an exchange program for our customers using our gyrocompasses, providing a refund for their used AlphaMiniCourse Mk2.
In our product line, we have gyrocompasses that are maintenance free, or that require annual service. In both cases, our qualified technicians are available to perform service, maintenance and technical support checks for your vessel. We maintain close relationships with our dealers for the maintenance of gyrocompasses. Their technicians are also trained by Alphatron Marine and can provide support on board worldwide whenever you need assistance.
The Alphatron Marine locations in the Netherlands and Singapore each have their own gyro workshop. These are climate-controlled spaces, providing the perfect environment for calibrating compasses. Alphatron Marine gyrocompasses, such as the AlphaMidiCourse, are handled by passionate and skilled specialists. They perform overhaul maintenance and repairs on gyrocompasses, ensuring you always experience an accurate and smooth journey, wherever you travel.
Due to the current sanctions against Russia, Alphatron Marine is unable to sell or provide service for the AlphaMiniCourse, including the Mk2 variant, at this time.
In Rotterdam, we have our own electronics workshop staffed by experienced technicians who perform repairs down to the component level. Instead of replacing entire circuit boards, we repair the individual components on the board, ensuring navigation and communication systems are quickly back in operation. Our workshop is equipped with state-of-the-art tools, including soldering and BGA stations, professional optical and digital microscopes, various multimeters, analogue and digital oscilloscopes (including mixed-signal), a spectrum analyser, EMI analyser, antenna analyser, RF and function generators, an infrared thermal camera, and a multimeter calibrator. We also keep strategic spare parts in stock, enabling us to carry out urgent repairs quickly and efficiently.
Our electronic repair workshop is equipped with the most advanced equipment, such as an advanced solder station, BGA solder station, professional microscope optical and digital, several multimeters, oscilloscope digital and analog, mixed-signal digital oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, EMI-analyzer, antenna-analyzer, RF generator, function generator, infrared thermic camera and calibrator for multimeters. Besides that, strategic spare parts are kept in stock to make sure urgent repairs are executed quickly and efficiently.
Our electrical engineers have experience and knowledge with:
- Navigation: deepsea and inland radar, solid-state radar, several GPS compasses, several gyro compasses, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo apparatus, several AIS, fish finders, echosounders and speedlog.
- Weather: anemometer, weather stations, weatherfax and navtex.
- Computers: industrial computer, industrial keyboard/mouse, industrial UPS, industrial KVM switches and industrial monitor.
- Audio and Video: professional industrial amplifiers, camera and IR camera and DVR recorders.
- Safety systems: SART, EPIRB, fire detection and VDR.
- Automation: PLC, frequency drives, sensors and PIC + AVR programming.
- Communication: several VHF, UHF, MF/HF-radio, radio-directionfinder, satellite systems, GSM systems and PABX.
In addition to analysing, modifying, developing, and repairing various systems, it is essential to inspect and calibrate them. Calibration is also subject to laws and regulations: equipment must always operate within the correct calibration range to ensure the safety of all parties involved. Alphatron Marine uses high-quality calibration equipment, which is tested and calibrated annually by qualified and accredited organisations. This enables us to calibrate our customers’ instruments and systems in a reliable, well-maintained, and technically competent manner – fully in accordance with the highest quality standards.
