What will you be doing as a IT Solutions Engineer?

As an IT Solutions Engineer, you are the expert behind the IT and AV solutions installed on board vessels. You’ll work on both new and existing customer environments, building complete systems: from networks, Wi-Fi and CCTV to IPTV – all connected via satellite and mobile internet links.

  • You design and build network solutions – from a simple USG to complex SD-WAN firewall setups.
  • You're involved from the first customer contact to project delivery, including pre-sales advice and technical implementation.
  • You may also board vessels yourself to commission systems – both in the Netherlands and abroad.
  • Your base is our office in Rotterdam, but you're open to travel occasionally.

This is a varied, independent, and technically challenging role. Your expertise is key – especially as we move towards standardizing our custom ITAV solutions.

In short, your responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and implement ITAV projects;
  • Proactively manage customer environments;
  • Advise (internal) customers on complex technical questions;
  • Act as a 3rd-line technical support expert;
  • Commission systems onboard;
  • Help standardize our ITAV solutions;
  • Participate in the 24/7 support duty roster (approx. once every 6 weeks).
What do you bring?
  • Higher professional education (HBO) level or MBO+ with relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IT networks (e.g. VLANs, routing, multicast, spanning-tree).
  • Experience with IT and AV systems.
  • You understand how technical systems work and how they add value for our customers.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English (spoken and written).
  • Valid driver’s license (B) and willingness to travel.
  • Solid knowledge of Juniper Networks products.
  • Cisco certification, experience with TVRO/VSAT or Crestron? That’s a plus!
  • An affinity with the maritime industry is essential.

Core competencies:
Independent, eager to learn, communicative, analytical, proactive, and solution-oriented.

What do we offer?
  • A full-time position in an international, dynamic environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits in line with your role.
  • A company car (also for private use).
  • Overtime compensation or time-for-time arrangement.
  • Expense and on-call duty allowance.
  • At least 32 days of leave (fulltime basis).
  • Option to purchase additional leave.
  • A flat organization with short lines and quick decision-making.
  • Access to online training for your personal development.
  • Excellent pension scheme with low employee contribution.
  • Regular fun team and company events.
